Deadly disease in Irish hares and rabbits

Unfortunately, a disease fatal to rabbits and hares, but of no risk to humans, has been confirmed in a hare at the Wexford Wildfowl Reserve. If you see any suspected ill hares on our Reserve, can you please contact the Visitor Centre at the desk or on (0761) 002660. Thank you. Summer Events

Goose

Every Tuesday and Thursday throughout July and August there will be pond dipping and bug hunting from 10am till 12. On Tuesday's it will be pond dipping in the Snipe Field near the Centre and Thursday's will be bug hunting in the Raven Woods. No booking required, just turn up between those times to take part. Events are weather dependent so may be cancelled at short notice, keep an eye on our Facebook page for all the latest information.

Pond works

Goose

There is progress on the redevelopment of the pond. An area has been selected to be a children's dipping pond and an area for an island has been constructed. There will also be floating islands which will be moved around according to where the best areas would be for their use. Water will start being pumped into the pond tomorrow, but in the meantime, the pictures below show how things are looking, or have looked recently. Click on the thumbnails...

National Biodiversity Week

Bealtaine Living Earth Festival Poster

We're pleased to be part of the Bealtaine Living Earth Festival this year, Ireland’s biggest biodiversity and natural heritage festival. We'll be running events on both Sunday 19th May and Sunday 26th May. In addition to the events outlined in the programme, we also have a talk on Bumblebees on Sunday 26th May at 2pm.
