Join us for Heritage Week (August 19th to 27th). We have a series of events to celebrate our natural heritage. All free and family-friendly, no booking required.
Sunday 20th and 27th, we break out the nets, jars and pooters for bug discovery in the Wexford Wildfowl Reserve visitor centre grounds. Join us from two to four to look for butterflies, grasshoppers, ladybirds and other creepy crawlies.
Tuesday 22nd we look for land and water invertebrates in the Snipe Field Ardcavan from ten to noon. Park in the Ardcavan parking area and follow the signs down the lane.
Wednesday 23rd we go on a shore walk along Ardcavan Beach from two to four to see what life we can find on a sandy beach at low tide.
Thursday 24th we pond-dip and look for insects in the Raven Nature Reserve from ten to noon. Park in the raven Wood car park and follow the signs to the first clearing.
Saturday 26th we celebrate International Bat Night with a bat talk and walk from the Pump House, Wexford Wildfowl Reserve from eight thirty (sunset is around nine). After a presentation about these little furry fliers, we look for them with bat detectors and torches along the boardwalk. Outdoor footwear and clothing required, suitable for families.
