SUMMER 2018 AT WEXFORD WILDFOWL RESERVE (ALL EVENTS ARE FREE)

POND-DIPPING AND BUG DISCOVERY EACH TUESDAY AND THURSDAY AT WEXFORD WILDFOWL RESERVE JULY 2nd TO AUGUST 23rd FROM TEN TO NOON

Join us on our outdoor sites for twice-weekly family-friendly pond-dipping and bug discovery each Tuesday and Thursday from July 10th to August 23rd.  See the variety of creepy-crawlies in our ponds, meadows and bushes.  Drop in anytime from ten am to noon, all equipment is provided.  Good footwear and sunscreen recommended!

Each TUESDAY from July 10th to August 21st at the SNIPE FIELD, WEXFORD WILDFOWL RESERVE FROM TEN TO NOON.  FAMILIES WELCOME.

Take the road to Wexford Wildfowl Reserve, park in the open parking area next to Ardcavan beach then follow the signs down the lane to the Snipe Field.  See the variety of creepy-crawlies in our ponds, meadows and bushes.  Drop in anytime from ten am to noon, all equipment is provided.  Good footwear and sunscreen recommended!

Each THURSDAY from July 12th to August 23rd in the RAVEN NATURE RESERVE FROM TEN TO NOON.  FAMILIES WELCOME.

Park in the Raven or Curracloe Beach car park, walk past the barrier gate and follow the signs down the lane to the clearing.  See the variety of creepy-crawlies in our ponds and bushes.  Drop in anytime from ten am to noon, all equipment is provided.  Good footwear and sunscreen recommended!

EACH WEEKDAY (subject to Guide availability)

GUIDED TOUR OF VISITOR CENTRE, TOWER AND HIDES 3 PM. 

Ask at reception at 3 pm and the guide will give a history of the North Slob and Wexford Wildfowl Reserve and lead you on a tour of our tower and hides.  Binoculars and a guide book will be provided.

HERITAGE WEEK (August 18th to 26th) EVENTS IN WEXFORD WILDFOWL RESERVE 

Sunday 19th, 11 am to 4 pm 

Bug and Butterfly Discovery at Wexford Wildfowl Reserve. 

Join us in the grounds of our visitor centre to look for butterflies, ladybirds, water boatmen and other insects.  All equipment; nets, jars, trays, pooters and identification charts are provided.  Watch for birds form our hides and tower.  Family friendly and free!

Tuesday 21st, 10 am to 12 pm. 

Land and Water Bug Discovery in the Snipe Field, Wexford Wildfowl Reserve

See what insects and other mini-beasts live in our ponds and fields.  All equipment; nets, jars, trays, pooters and identification charts are provided.  Park at Ardcavan beach (leave room for turning farm vehicles!) and follow the signs down the lane.  Boots recommended.

Thursday 23rd, 10 am to 12 pm

Bug Discovery and Nature trail in the Raven Woods

See what insects and other mini-beasts live in ponds and bushes.  All equipment; nets, jars, trays, pooters and identification charts are provided.  Park in the Raven car park and follow the signs.  Boots recommended.

Saturday 25th, 8.30 pm to 11.30 pm 

Bat Talk and Walk in Wexford Wildfowl Reserve

Learn about and search for bats after sunset.  Join us for a talk and guided walk with bat detector boxes to find local bats.  Torches, outdoor clothing and footwear recommended.

Sunday 26th, 11 am to 4 pm

Slob Stories; Photographs that tell the story of the North Slob and Wexford Wildfowl Reserve over the last 50 years on display throughout Heritage Week in the Visitor Center Wexford Wildfowl Reserve’

These events are listed in the official Heritage Week book and website.

From 9 to 5, visitors, including school groups, are welcome to visit. Binoculars and bird guide books can be borrowed on request to watch for birds from the tower.
